The night before
Strip all bedding and bag it for a hot wash. Pull the bed away from the wall. Empty bedside tables. Hoover thoroughly along skirtings within 1m of every bed and sofa.
The morning of treatment
- Bag clothes you want to keep clean and leave them in the room (heat treats them too)
- Remove pets, fish tanks and any heat-sensitive items (vinyl records, candles, chocolate, pressurised aerosols)
- Leave wardrobe and drawer doors open
- Unplug appliances near the treatment area
What we do when we arrive
Set up heaters and fans in 30 minutes, run the room for 6–8 hours with continuous thermal monitoring, then ventilate and re-set the room before we leave.
After we've gone
Don't re-introduce untreated items from outside the room for 48 hours. Use interceptor cups under bed and sofa legs for 14 days as a monitor.
